On November 9,
2020, specialists of the State Audit Service of Ukraine and its
interregional territorial bodies took part in the webinar «Gender audit
in the public finance control system»,
which became the last one in
the cycle of webinars on the subject, conducted by the international experts
and organized by the «Gender
Budgeting in Ukraine»
Project (hereinafter – the GRB Project).
The relevant measures are aimed at integrating the gender component into
the budget process, promoting the improvement of economic efficiency of budget
expenditures by taking into account the needs of different groups of women and
men in Ukraine, enriching of
knowledge and experience about current development trends and gender-oriented
budgeting practices at the global, European and national levels.
In terms of present-day realities, the relevant topic regarding the
control over budget expenditures, aimed at combating the spread of
COVID-19, which was considered in the light of gender audit, hasn’t been left
out of attention of public financial control bodies’ inspectors and auditors. This
topic was of special interest and it was prepared by the GRB Project at the
request of the State Audit Service of Ukraine.
It should be noted that the State Audit Service of Ukraine is an active
participant of the activities conducted by the GRB Project and it is interested
in development of such a new tool in the sphere of promoting of gender equality
policy as a gender audit, which will allow to evaluate the level of efficiency
of gender approach institutionalization in policies, programs, processes etc.
For this purpose, the development of the current regulatory basis now is in
planned.
