First pilot projects in building the European model of internal control in the system of central executive authorities have been initiated 17 May 2008

The MainCRO takes consistent steps in development of the national public internal financial control (PIFC) pursuant to the governmental Concept adopted in May 2005. One of three “pillars” of the European model of PIFC is internal control as a system of rules, regulations and procedures, based on risk management.

In May 2008 within the framework of the Twinning project “Assisting the Main Control and Revision Office of Ukraine (KRU) in implementing a new system of PIFC”, implemented based on the contract between the EC Delegation to Ukraine, Swedish National Financial Management Authority and the MainCRO, it was initiated the first two out of ten pilot projects in internal control.

The first such project was started on the 13th of May in the National Television and Broadcasting Committee, the second – on the 15th of May – in the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction. New internal control will be built on the example of some subdivisions of the machineries of the mentioned bodies.

Pledge of success is support of pilots on the side of the highest management, which was expressed by the Deputy Head of the Committee Olexandr Kurdynovych and Deputy Minister Anatoly Tkachuk.

Essence of the pilot projects lies in an independent rebuilding of present control system by the specialists of these bodies themselves. Constant assistance in the course of the project will be rendered to its performers by specialists of the Department of Public Internal Financial Control Harmonization, as well as by experts Vilhelm Reutersward (Resident Twinning Advisor) and Anders Nilsson (senior advisor of Swedish National Financial Management Authority)

The next 8 pilot projects are expected to be started in June this year.
